    Community Partnerships Make a Difference

The connections between school, home and community are important ones! Students supported our local community supper with the help of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and FES staff members this past Thursday. Students in grades K-4 cut potatoes, carrots and more to make a yummy cheeseburger soup! Warm homemade applesauce as a complement dish was made by our K-1 class and enjoyed by all. What a wonderful way to support one another and enjoy a special meal together!

    FES Students Lead the Way

Open House was an exciting time for our families, students and staff this past week. Students in all grades lead their families through the hallways, multi-purpose room and classrooms presenting the details about the work they have accomplished. Content areas of math, reading, writing, wellness and art were displayed throughout the school. A big thank you to Mr. LeGraw, our PE/Wellness teacher for making a family obstacle course for all to enjoy!

    Exploring the World of Insects

Kindergartners take time to explore personal and class interests as they begin their journey into the world of words and reading. Students begin the year in "discovery mode", with time spent exposing them to language and engaging them in literacy concepts, vocabulary and comprehension.

    First Graders working hard!

Our first grade students in Ms. Ramey's class were hard at work practicing their skills in sequencing and number formation. In addition to reviewing basic math skills, students have been working on reviewing addition and subtraction within ten and exploring math manipulatives to make abstract concepts more concrete. Math materials and "tools" for learning include blocks, toys and manipulatives.

Morphs and Milestones Adventures

Students at Francestown Elementary School discovered their interests in nature during our Open House this past week. Nate from Morphs and Milestones brought his reptile collection for students to observe, touch and discover more about. His non profit organization is very popular in town and all the students and families were very interested in learning more about them that evening. Thank you, Nate!
